New launch - Leaders, Laggards and Losers

So why should I use Leaders, Laggards and Losers?

  • It will help you view the funds that regularly outshine their rivals and steer clear of those consistently under-performing.
  • It can help you make a more informed decision when reviewing your portfolio.
  • It will provide you with past and current performance of categorised funds. With over 2000 funds categorised, this product is an innovation for the investment industry.
  • Each fund is assigned a crown rating (Click here to learn more about crown rating). The crown rating is a measure used by the Financial Express that we have decided to include to make understanding funds a little more simple when carrying out your research.

What makes a Leader, Laggard or Loser?

Elson Associates - Investment Management Services UK

  • Leaders: funds found in this category have been recorded to consistently out-perform their sector peers over the space of three years. To be at the top and become a leader, a fund must have produced a positive return relative to the sector average over each of the last three years and show accumulative performance over those three years of at least 10% better than the sector average.
  • Laggards: these funds are under-performing on a regular basis. The performance of these in each of the last three years is worse than the average sector and the accumulative performance over three years is between -20% and -50% relative to the sector average.
  • Losers: these funds are consistently under-performing and by a significant margin over three years. The accumulative performance over three years, is at over 50% below the sector average.

What do I need to remember?

  • You should not use this categorisation system as a guide for future fund performance. Past and current performance aren't necessarily a guarantee of future performance and their value may go down as well as up and you may not get back the amount you invested.
  • The performance and ratings are for personal information and use only and should not be used alone to decide on whether to invest in a fund. It should merely be used as assistance along with other information included in the key investor information documents (KIIDS), taking into account your investment goals, circumstances and your attitude to risk.
